Rachael Wright has deleted her GoFundMe fundraising page, but (of course) we have screen shots of it here.
Again, if you donated to Rachael and Tray, please contact me. This is one of the few cases where criminal charges can be filed.
Here’s Rachael’s thoughts about people who fake cancer.
She was looking for an apartment last month:

$500 In need of an apartment, bad credit
I am in need of an apartment. I am 21 years old, I have been living in hotels and extended stay hotels for the past 3 years. I have a steady job as a caregiver and have worked for the same person for 3 and a half years. I need a place that won’t mind me not having and past rental history and I also have a car repo. Which was not mine. My parents got a car for themselves in my name when I was 17 and didn’t pay on it. I am very responsible. I don’t drink, smoke, or do any type of drugs. I have no legal problems nor have I ever had. I don’t have a pet. Size doesn’t matter a studio or bigger. If you think you can work with me and let me move in asap. Please email me asap or call me at xxx-xxx-xxxx, if you leave a voicemail I will get back to you asap. I work alot lately.
Thank you in advance

Lie, her parents couldn’t have gotten a car in her name when she was 17.
That’s not entirely true. I know plenty of people who’s credit was ruined by their own parents (utilities, cable, cars). It’s a bit harder now than it was 10 or 15 years ago, but if her mom used her social security # etc on a loan, it’s very possible she ruined Rachael’s credit this way.
From the looks of it, her parents (Rachael’s) are right on par with their daughter. No cancer hoaxers but felons with drug and other convictions.
It can be done. Hell, my father had gambling debts that run into tens of thousands, all before I was five years old. In my name.
Grandview, MO is not exactly an upper crust suburb. She obviously has evictions on her record, because $500 for a studio or one BR apartment in Grandview is on the high end. She is basically asking someone to let her live with them for free, since they wouldn’t get paid.
And we already know size doesn’t matter, since Tray has a small penis.:) (see Yahoo Answers)
fraud, money problems, rent problems.. I wonder if she is a drug addict or gambles or something?
Sounds more like she has pseudologia fantastica, and her life’s in the toilet because she ends up believing her own lies. She’s clearly very sick.
I had a friend who claimed he’d had death threats. The police were helping him, his social worker was trying to find him a new flat. He was hysterically frightened, not sleeping, he looked awful. The problem was that the notes and the painted threats on his door were in his own (very distinctive) handwriting.
When he was challenged he denied he’d written the threats. He genuinely believed someone was out to get him.
It seems like this girl is similar.
Wow, thank you, I’d never heard of Pseudologia Fantastica before. I’ve had an interesting read around. I have to disagree – Rachael clearly sought external benefits and she wasn’t satisfied with a ‘lot’ of money, she kept pushing for more. I would class her as a fraud, and/or a malingerer.
This is from Wisegeek – One disorder that involves pathological lying is malingering. A patient suffering from this condition invents physical or psychological symptoms to obtain something, such as drugs or money, or to avoid prosecution or work. Pseudologia fantastica differs from malingering because the reward is external rather than the internal satisfaction sought by a pathological liar. http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-pseudologia-fantastica.htm
Pseudologia Fantastica = fancy textbook term for pathological liar.
1. Fiona already gave the English term above.
2. I never said it wasn’t called that, but as English isn’t my first language it’s easier to use the standard term that I’m used to.
3 Books are fancy? Or is it learning that’s fancy? You sound very defensive, and that makes me feel bad for you.
If someone mentions that they have transient ischaemic attacks do you sneer and say “Ugh, you mean hurty head?” Are people allowed to talk about things like malignant melanoma to you, or would you just roll your eyes and say “Stop showing off, it’s only skin cancer!”
And people wonder why certain nations are accused of anti-intellectualism.
Boostick: Chill out. Seriously. If you take a single lined comment so gosh darned to heart that you go that out of the way to be upset over a meaningless comment by someone you don’t know and never will, then, well, I am at a loss for words.
However:
I’d never heard of the word before, and decided to simply define it into terms that others who don’t possess my degree of psychological intellect would. I wasn’t hashing shit at anyone or being venomous. It’s been my finding that the simplest definition is the best. Also, I don’t see where the term is specifically called or labeled as “pathological liar” in any comment here.
I think she just likes attention and money.
Reader – it’s right there in Fiona’s comment:
And again, like I said, I used the scientific name because that’s the name that I know. Drugs and conditions have official names and informal. names (for the latter) and local brand names (for the former). English is the lingua franca* of the internet, but as local names/brands/definitions can vary, using scientific/formal names for things prevents confusion. Deriding a scientific term as a “fancy textbook name” was what annoyed me. Don’t you see what that sounds like when that’s pretty much the entirety of your comment?
Anyway, enough. My only initial intention was to show that sometimes fantasists end up convincing themselves of their own lies, and inhabit a fantasy world in their head as a way of escaping/denying their real situation.

We sure seem to have some bullies on this comment thread. Not cool.
It says in her ad that she is a caregiver. If that’s true and she’s a caregiver for the elderly, it could explain where she obtained the medical supplies like the tubes and such she sported in her photos.
“I have no legal problems nor have I ever had.”
I sense that’s about to change in the very near future…
It didn’t even occur to me till I read it here; but both her sister and Tray are on disability – it’s very VERY likely that she “borrowed” their health equipment and took photos. There are no pictures of her in public with it, nor too many others. I think when she was with Tray *same background in pictures* are when the most occurred. That pretty much narrows it down to using his stuff. I’m still not too sure he’s actually”in” on the hoax. He appears to have some disabilities and from all the background searching, lives in housing provided by the govt (section 8).
When Rachael said she was living in mostly hotels/extended suites – I believe her. You can tell by the photographers (the headboards and wall art along with the furniture gave it away). I have a feeling she was homeless in a sense. I don’t believe she’s a paid caregiver BUT she may have been hired by Tray to care for him – and so she gets paid by the Gov for doing so. I know many people who do this, as they have to quit their job to give around the clock care for a family member.
This of course all leads into a big question of: Are they together? Is she simply a person who befriended him and conned her way into caregiving and is conning the public into thinking she has a fiancé (someone who loves her)?
The part about her rapes of course all sounds like BS, but I’m suspecting she might have been a victim at some point. The Yahoo question about pregnancies should be addressed because this is how I read it
After reading her entire tumblr, it was evident that she was going to “expire by Valentines” (it’s in the start of that tumblr), then she shifts it to May. But she talks a LOT about suicide in between those two predicted deaths. However on Yahoo messages about 3 weeks ago, she starts hinting that she’s pregnant. I think Rachael was setting to kill off her cancer Tumblr and reemerge as pregnant person full of issues and needing cash! She began fishing for info right as she began to suddenly get sick.
And concerning the money. She obtained a grand and some change, and is looking for an apartment at 500. I’m guessing that 1,000 was first and last months rent, and she wanted out of living with Tray (just an assumption). Hell, for all we know – he believe she is terminal and one day she disappears, leaving him to think she has died. I do not think Tray has ever gotten online, let alone used her Tumblr nor do I think he knows her family.
Sorry, this is a lot of ideas to cram into this little area here lol. The pregnancy and the cancer sort of came together if you read the timelines…she was learning about pregnancy enough to at least know what the expect and state it..the cancer part she used till she found out there’s a way for her to earn money (I believe it began as a way to make friends and get attention/love), now that she’s found a way to profit, I don’t think we’ll see an end to her. I really do not.
I DO think the way she received money and the pretenses are in fact punishable. Someone with more knowledge should chime in; but I think using Paypal and websites like GoFund me (that allow ACH transfers) consider defrauding people out of cash = wire fraud and also there’s deception by the use of a computer. There was a similar case although in Canada and she did get served..might be something worth looking into to see how those charges came about.
You seem to have a lot of insight.
I do think that this was very deliberate and planned out, more than a desperation crime. It all makes me think this is something she may have done a few times already. She’s hit on an easy way to make money, and she knows it.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Trey was someone who she simply knows and ‘befriended’ and talked her way into staying with him – called herself a caretaker. That happened to a friend of mine with a mental illness recently, a couple of drug addicts talked him into letting them stay a night in his flat, then stayed on and on, and THEN contacted social security to name themselves as his caretakers even though they were not caring for him, just using him! If she really is homeless, she could well have used Trey for a roof over her head and a carer allowance at some stage.
I do think that she could have something like borderline PD, but I also don’t think that a sexual assault as she describes happened to her. Maybe it did, but she doesn’t have any kind of empathy or consideration about how people who have survived something like that feel. I think she’s just used it as another thing that she knows gets sympathy and attention and that people are not likely to question too closely for purposes of tactfulness and delicateness.
She’s obviously got enough money to access the internet constantly, so her situation can’t be TOO dire. IMO she’s gotten very greedy. She probably would have killed herself off then resurfaced in another place as someone else with some different reason to ask for money. I wondered about drug addiction because she obviously does seem to have a life of problems with housing and money and her urging people to donate to me, sounded quite frantic.
Anyone who does something like this is sick, but more evil than sick IMO.
Wow. “Fancy textbook term”, really?
I’m showing my age now but I remember when sharing knowledge was a good thing. Seems like its something to mock these days. 🙁
I wasn’t being serious.
I had never heard of the phrase before, and I assumed others would not, either. I found the definition in a text book used by PhD students studying psychiatry and psychology as well as sociology.
In my college years, I never ran across pathological liar phrased like that (under grad psych, nursing major), and assumed that the casual person wouldn’t have access to PhD level text books.
I stand corrected. I apologise.
So has she contacted Taryn yet? I would still like to hear her side.
No, we haven’t heard from Rachael, which kind of makes sense considering the legal ramifications of that. Rachael, if you’re reading, I’d still love to talk to you. warriorelihoax@gmail.com
