Brittany “Brett” Schmidt has a lot of questions to answer. She apparently will not be doing that on Facebook or CaringBridge. Both of Brett’s sites have been deleted along with her personal Facebook page.
There was a fundraiser scheduled for August 4th, a tennis tournament in honor of Brett. It was started by her nurse, Jay (a character I highly suspect was Brett herself).
On the Facebook event page, over fifty people had been invited to attend, but only five had responded yes to the invite.

I posted the video that Brett had used on her page. It was supposedly a Skype call between herself and her nurse, Jay, as Brett watched the final match at this year’s Wimbledon. Notice the lack of shunt on her head.

TheTruth365 is DEFINITELY a legitimate project. They were scammed just as many others were. Unfortunately, figuring out who is faking cancer has become a part of fighting cancer in 2012.
I don’t think so. So many kids with real stories, real pages, many photos, and many of them have reason to think it’s a scam. They interviewed Brett at 6 a.m. on July 8th and again on July 14th early in the morning and had no idea she was a hoax. Very hard to believe.
People in our hoax group, people who are very high profile in the pediatric cancer fight, know one of the people behind the documentary. It is legit. This is an unfortunate speed bump for them but I’m sure it’s going to be something really special.
The truth 365 is a REAL project conducted by someone who has done such projects before. They were scammed just as the others were. This project probably means a lot to the person in charge as he personally knows a family with a daughter fighting cancer.
Yes Ive known the person in charge of TheTruth365 for months now, and he is very trustworthy with a good heart. Taylor Love is the little girl that he knows fighting neuroblastoma. TheTruth365 is a legitimate project! 🙂
I know for a fact TheTruth365 is NOT a scam. One of the people behind this project is my sister. She is the Founder of Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation. All you have to do is go to the AWOCCF.org website, and you can see all the families she has helped and all the money raised to fund trials that have already helped save children’s lives. They have funded trials at many different hospitals around the country, as well as helped many families locally and nationally. She has personally paid for funerals for patients who could not afford to bury their children, and the foundation has paid for air fare for a working dad to be reunited with a dying child while fighting this battle with their mom in NYC. Every month AWOCCF helps a family in need who is battling this beast. Dena Sherwood is a cancer mom, who is trying to raise awareness for childhood cancer and especially neuroblastoma, which most people have never heard of. I know before my nephew was diagnosed our family never heard of it and there is so little funding set aside for these children it is sickening. It is sickening that parents like my sister and brother in law and their friends are fighting for these children and are the only advocates for them because many feel 600 children lost in a year is too little an amount to warrant funds and awareness. The Truth 365 along with AWOCCF are trying to spare other children from having to go through what my nephew has gone through. They are trying to give children options, until a cure is found. They are trying to save other parents the pain soo many of her friends have experienced by helping with research through so many projects.
I am so angry that one deceitful person, could try to ruin all the good that my sister and AWOCCF has done in the Childhood Cancer Community in the past four years. To see what my sister has gone through for the past four years and how hard she has fought to help others personally and through her foundation, while my nephew was in treatment and how selfless she is of her own time is nothing short of amazing. When others would just barely be able to handle their own child’s illness, she is fighting for everyones child who has some sort of pediatric cancer, for the children who will be diagnosed tomorrow and she fights for those who have lost the battle so they did not die in vain.

I have my doubts on TheTruth365 also. Which, if they are real, is sad.
They are real, and they learned an important lesson in vetting candidates, I’d say.

Mike has worked with Taylor Love for a long long time and has just recently started to film TheTruth365 with all the videos and stuff for Taylor Love that he has done while she was sick and after her transplant and even when she was finally able to meet her donor after over a year… I highly doubt it is. A fraud when I bought a Taylor bracelet last year but have not been able to pay for it yet due to problems with my paypal and such but I have the bracelet, (and sadly lost it :'( ) but I am friend’s with Mike on Facebook and can tell you in my opinion TheTruth365 is real. I have been following Taylor’s story for 2 years and there has never ever been anything said or done for me to question it’s validity.

Either it’s real or I have been fooled for a very long time and the person doing the fooling is VERY good at what they do and kids are involved talking in videos and Taylor is in the videos too both while she is sick and after. I don’t believe for a second that Mike is a fake.
TheTruth365 is a legitimate project. I’ve known Mike for a few months now, and Abby Miller. They are both so trustworthy with big hearts. They’ve been working on it for a long time, and would never be trying to fool people. I know that for a fact 🙂

No one has said that CHOP or anyone employed there is a hoax.
It’s sad to have to feel this way but I now think ‘guilty until proven innocent’. Unless someone I know has personally dealt with them, I have no reasons to trust. It’s sickening and unfair.
I understand how you feel… I don’t understand why anyone would fake cancer or fake that their child has cancer.. The truth is real. I have personally met Dens who is also heading this, at the RMH in NY. Her son is a nueroblastoma fighter and she currently runs the arms wide open childhood cancer Fdn and does wonderdful things for the parents at the RMH in NY.

The truth is legit. My sister lost her son to NB, but while they were in treatment she personally met people behind the project. Arms Wide Oped does a wonderful job supporting families at Sloan
I know the people behind this project too. It is wonderful and honest. Mike would never do anything to trick people.
Well as someone who volunteered (almost) 4 years at the RMD house of NYC finding out TheTruth365 should be simple as I know many of the families personally.
Seems like a scam…they keep saying the film is coming out and then it never does. They are losing a lot of followers and interest in the film and honestly it seems unprofessional and not well planned on their part. Makes people wonder.
They haven’t been working that long on it… Just since the summer. I think if anything it was just an unrealistic goal and now they are seeing how long it takes to make it and that is longer than they planned for. I’m sure it’ll be out soon. Also something happened around the time it was to be released so thy extended the date the first time to accommodate it… I’m not forcing anyone to believe me or believe in this project but I will never turn on Mike or Dena or The Truth 365 and I hope there are still people out there that will support them and their amazing work.

Fair enough. It seems like a GREAT project, but then it just never seems to happen. You should never set a date if it isn’t sure because people share, post, media gets interested, and then the date comes and there is nothing, it leads people to start talking. They have now had 2 set dates and nothing has come. The lack of updates all week long is also unsettling. They want to share awareness for childhood cancer awareness and get people serious about it but so far…for those who were wondering and were interested some have now since moved on and as far as the media articles there have seemed to be very little because there is little to report with no movie. They keep pushing for people to add the page and get the hype up and then they post a cryptic status saying oh this isn’t working or oh it’s being uploaded in a few hours we will post an update and then nothing comes!!
I also find it in really bad taste that they then post a huge post about being patient written by a cancer patient to almost guilt trip people into not being slightly annoyed and upset the documentary has yet to be seen or aired. Thats not fair at all. Of course people are going to be a little let down…especially those with children featured who have spread the word to so many, and for those who have donated money towards this cause!!
Maybe it is not a scam, you are right. But not well planned.
